The staff here are incredibly friendly and happy to suggest local attractions, with a convenient location near the town center and close to the shore for a beautiful sunset view as well as the Lumberjack cafe.

I recently stayed at a charming retreat in Owaka, nestled in a beautiful old villa. The owner, Jill, warmly welcomed me and provided valuable recommendations for local dining and attractions. The homely atmosphere and comfortable beds made for a relaxing stay. Despite being on the main road, the house had an intriguing character that transported me back in time. The attention to detail in the decor was impressive, and I enjoyed exploring the selection of magazines and books. Although the room didn't have a lot of clear surfaces, the unique furnishings added a sweet touch to the experience. The shower had good hot water, but the water pressure could have been better. Additionally, the heating in one of the rooms was noisy and inadequate, leaving us feeling a bit cold during our stay. While the continental breakfast was well presented, I found it to be a bit pricey. my time at Catlins Retreat B & B was enjoyable, and I would recommend it for those seeking a cozy and historic retreat in Owaka.
